One of the characteristics common to owners of small businesses is their desire
to sell it. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe when they are ready for
retirement, but selling it is almost always in their plan. If it isn’t,
it probably ought to be because it will come to mind at some point in
time. And, when they find out how long it takes to sell it, and what they
have to go through to prepare it for sale, they may look back wondering
why no one told them to plan ahead. Probably, they were told, but they
did not take it seriously at the time.
